What we do
We offer up to twelve studio residencies a year, all beginning in August, and ending after the annual Summer Exhibition in July. For this exhibition we work with an outside curator, and produce an exhibition catalogue. There is also an Open Studios event held in either December or January and during the year there are occasional exhibitions by outside or resident artists. The Trust works hard to bring in galleries, collectors, consultants and other artists to interact with, and stimulate, the resident artists, and a programme of talks and peer critiques are arranged by the Director. The Director also provides valuable one-to-one mentoring for resident artists, although it should be clearly understood that we do not aim to provide a “course”, and that maximizing the benefits of a residency, and what is on offer though the Trust, requires the pro-active participation of the each artist.
Today there are as many reasons for choosing to come to the Trust as there are artists, but what remains true for all is that taking up a residency at the Trust represents a commitment to use the time and space to develop and grow – a commitment that the Trust hopes to match, and enhance, with our resources, support and experience.
