Elle Pickering began her career as a painter. In the same way that she experimented with drawing and painting techniques she now invests much of her time experimenting with photographic techniques, particularly while in the darkroom and using old film stock and Polaroids. She is drawn to 'forgotton' places exploring landscapes and abandoned buildings in the UK and abroad. She captures the surviving traces of past times. People move in, move out and move on, the decor changes and as the years pass our man made structures are reclaimed by nature.
