My practice is a response from a range of sources that include cinema to children's illustrations and tries to understand my relationship to these diverse images. These 'images' that either excite or leave me indifferent is what I am trying to understand through the language of paint.
Film plays an important role in the work as it utilizes its sensory element and holds associations and connotations of nostalgia, distance, comfort, loneliness, abandonment and escapism, whilst also dealing with issues such as male camaraderie and abuse, which I try to imbue and convey into the work.
Differing source material ranging from old magazines, animation to fairytales and various genre's in film, such as the Western and 80's American teen, all act as vessels for me in trying to undersatnd the practice whilst leaving a space for the viewers own interpretation.
